AD Code (Authorised Dealer Code)

A bank-issued code registered with customs at each port of shipment, required before a shipping bill can be generated.

Definition

The Authorised Dealer Code is issued by an exporter's bank and must be registered at each port from which they ship. Without it, Indian customs will not generate a shipping bill through the ICEGATE electronic filing system.

Why It Matters

It is a procedural, port-specific requirement that sits alongside the IEC in the basic legal-export setup.
