WHO Prequalification is a rigorous assessment process confirming a specific product from a specific manufacturing site meets international quality, safety and efficacy standards. It is effectively mandatory for a manufacturer to reach Global Fund, PEPFAR, UNICEF and Gavi procurement, which together represent the majority of donor-funded volume in categories like ARVs, antimalarials and anti-TB medicines.
